Filtration key in sewerage venturi aerator

Vere Cooper, based out of Cradle Mountain in Tasmania, has found a good use for the trusted Philmac foot valves.
Vere designed a venturi aerator to filter effluent out of a sewerage lagoon and found the foot valve was the perfect solution to stop major solids blocking the aerator.
“We needed a simple inlet screen with 2” male BSP threads to screw into our PVC aerator, and our local contact, Grant, was able to provide the perfect solution,” he said.
Grant Ollington, Philmac’s regional sales expert in Tasmania, was approached at the recent Agfest field days.
“It was a simple request for two 2” foot valves, but when I saw the application I was very impressed with Vere’s design,” he said.
“I have since received feedback that the foot valves worked well with the small soft reed particles.
However they have installed another two to overcome issues with build-up of longer grasses and to help reduce velocity by half.”

The aerator is being used at the Currie WWTP aeration pond on King Island, using a 50mm GP pump suction line.
“It is not a million dollar project, but it has a big impact here on King Island and so we need to make sure we use good quality products,” Vere said.
“That’s why we contacted Philmac.”
